Can I still have an MRI if I'm claustrophobic?
Yes, and many of our patients share this concern. Because HealthScreen uses targeted MRI — focused on specific regions of the body rather than a full-body tunnel scan, the experience is generally more manageable than a full body MRI.
If you have concerns about claustrophobia, we recommend:
- Speaking with your GP before your appointment to discuss whether a short-acting anxiolytic may be appropriate.
- Letting our team know at the time of booking so we can notify our clinical team as appropriate.
- If needed, the MRI component can be rescheduled to a separate occasion.
Please don't hesitate to raise this with us before or at your appointment. Our team is experienced in supporting patients with this concern and will work with you to find the most comfortable approach.
