Is HealthScreen covered by Medicare or private health insurance?
Medicare Coverage
HealthScreen programs are comprehensive preventive health assessments that sit outside the traditional healthcare system. Therefore, Medicare does not fully cover the cost of a HealthScreen program.
Certain standard components of your assessment routine biomarker testing qualifies for a Medicare rebate, which can help reduce your out-of-pocket cost. This rebate is already factored into our pricing, so the prices displayed on our website are inclusive of any applicable Medicare rebates.
If you are travelling from overseas and are not eligible for Medicare, please note that you may incur additional out-of-pocket costs for biomarker testing. We recommend contacting our team before booking to confirm your situation.
Private Health Insurance Coverage
Private health insurance in Australia is primarily structured around hospital cover and extras cover for services such as dental, optical, and physiotherapy. Comprehensive preventive health assessments are generally not covered by standard private health insurance policies.
We recommend contacting your health fund directly before booking to confirm whether any benefits apply to your specific policy.
- We are able to provide a detailed invoice upon completion of your appointment
- Full payment is required at the time of service
- Any insurance claims are the responsibility of the patient
- Based on feedback from our patients, the majority have been unable to claim a rebate through private health insurance
What this means in practice?
Most patients will need to pay for their HealthScreen assessment out of pocket with no rebate from medicare or private health. The pricing reflects the clinical depth, time, and specialist resources involved in delivering a truly comprehensive, physician-led program, resources that are not available through the standard Medicare system.
For context, comparable executive health assessments in Australia have historically cost between $5,000 and $10,000 or more when accessed privately through specialist networks. HealthScreen is designed to make this level of care accessible at a more transparent price point.
