Sharing your results — GPs, insurers, and My Health Record

Can I share my results with my GP or specialist?

Yes — and for many patients, this is something we actively recommend. Following your assessment, your physician will prepare a comprehensive report and, where clinically appropriate, a structured care plan for your GP.

Sharing your results with your GP is entirely your choice. If you would like your report sent directly to your treating doctor or specialist, simply let our team know and we will arrange this.

Can my life insurer access or use my HealthScreen health data?

HealthScreen does not share your results with life insurers. Your results are private to you unless you choose to share them.

Regarding your own disclosure obligations: current Australian insurance law requires you to disclose material information that a reasonable person would consider relevant to an insurer. Whether and how you choose to disclose your HealthScreen findings is a personal and legal decision. We recommend speaking with your financial adviser or insurer if you have specific questions about your obligations.

Can genetic test results affect my life insurance premiums or eligibility?

Australian Federal Parliament has passed legislation stating that life insurers can no longer use genetic test results to decline cover or charge higher premiums. This removes a significant barrier that previously led some people to avoid genetic testing.

As a result, undergoing genetic screening with HealthScreen should not create adverse insurance consequences under the new legislative framework. For specific questions about how your results may interact with existing policies, we recommend consulting your insurer
