What should I do before my appointment?

Preparation helps to ensure your results are as accurate as possible and that your day runs smoothly. Here is what to keep in mind ahead of your HealthScreen assessment.

Fasting Most HealthScreen programs require a fasting period before your appointment. This typically means that you should stop eating from midnight the night before your exam. This is important for the accuracy of your biomarker results, particularly glucose, cholesterol, and metabolic markers. You may continue to drink water in the morning.

If you have selected our platinum program or added genetic testing, please refrain from drinking water 30min prior to your appointment.

Specific fasting instructions will be confirmed in your pre-appointment communications. If you have any questions, contact our team before your visit.

Medications Continue taking any regular prescribed medications unless your doctor has advised otherwise. If you have questions about whether a specific medication may affect your results, speak with your prescribing GP prior to the appointment and let our team know when you arrive.

Clothing Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. For MRI components of your assessment, you will be required to remove any metal objects, including jewellery, watches, and any clothing containing metal.

MRI safety If you have any metal implants, a pacemaker, cochlear implants, or have had recent surgery, please notify our team when booking. Our clinical staff will review your suitability for imaging prior to your appointment.

Claustrophobia If you have concerns about claustrophobia, please let us know at the time of booking. Because HealthScreen uses targeted MRI focused on specific regions, rather than a full-body tunnel scan, most patients find the experience more manageable than expected. If you have significant concerns, we recommend speaking with your GP about whether a short-acting anxiolytic may be appropriate before your visit.

On the day Plan to arrive 10 to 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Our team will guide you through each component of the assessment from arrival.

If you have any specific questions or concerns ahead of your appointment, do not hesitate to contact us on 1300 03 1300 or at admin@healthscreen.com.au.
