How long does HealthScreen keep my records?

HealthScreen retains health records in compliance with applicable Australian law. Under the Health Records Act, health information for adults must be retained for a minimum of 7 years from the date of last service. After this period, records are securely destroyed in accordance with our data retention and disposal policy.

Can I request that my data be deleted before the retention period ends?

You have the right to request deletion of personal information that is no longer required for the purpose it was collected, subject to HealthScreen's legal obligations to retain health records for the minimum statutory period. How do I access my previous HealthScreen records?

Please contact us at admin@healthscreen.com.au or call 1300 03 1300. For security purposes, we will ask you to verify your identity before providing access to your records.

What privacy rights do I have as a HealthScreen patient?

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal information HealthScreen holds about you
  • Correction — request that inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated information be corrected
  • Deletion — request removal of data no longer required, subject to legal retention obligations
  • Opt-out — withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time
  • Transparency — be informed about how your data is collected, used, and disclosed
  • Complaint — lodge a complaint with HealthScreen and escalate to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if not resolved
